Dr. Can Kasapoğlu

Dr. Can Kasapoğlu received his PhD from the Strategic Research Institute at the War Academies and his master’s degree from the Defense Sciences Institute at the Army War College. He is the director of the Security and Defense Studies Program at EDAM. Dr. Kasapoğlu has served as an Eisenhower Fellow at the NATO Defense College in Rome and as an academic researcher at the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence in Tallinn. Specializing in defense and open-source intelligence, he has held positions in leading security policy think tanks, including FRS in France, the BESA Center in Israel, and SWP in Germany.

In addition to his role at EDAM, Dr. Kasapoğlu is also active as the Eurasia Military Analyst at the Jamestown Foundation, one of the foremost U.S. think tanks focusing on Russia and former Soviet territories. He is also the editor of the Turkish Defense Review Journal, published periodically by the Turkish Heritage Organization.

Dr. Kasapoğlu has prepared briefings for various NATO organizations and delivered seminars at the Baltic Defense College’s Senior Command Course. He has published work with think tanks such as the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Istituto Affari Internazionali, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, and RUSI. He has provided commentary for media outlets including The Washington Post, The New York Times, Al Jazeera, TRT World, BBC, France 24, and Deutsche Welle. He also regularly writes political-military analyses for Anadolu Agency.
