Prof. Dr. Bahar Güntekin

Prof. Dr. Bahar Güntekin - İstanbul Medipol University, Professor of Biophysics
Bahar Güntekin was born in İzmir in 1977. She completed her PhD on EEG–Brain Oscillations in 2006 at the Department of Biophysics, Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine, receiving the Health Sciences Institute First Prize for her doctoral work. She took part in the establishment of the Brain Dynamics, Cognition and Complex Systems Research Center at Istanbul Kültür University and was appointed deputy director of the center. In 2010, she received the title of Associate Professor in Biophysics. In 2016, she became a Professor at the Department of Biophysics, Istanbul Medipol University Faculty of Medicine, where she also assumed the role of department chair. From 2019 to 2022, she served as a member of the advisory board of TÜBİTAK’s Health Sciences Research Group. Her research interests include EEG, signal analysis in EEG, event-related EEG–brain oscillations and their clinical applications, and cognitive neuroscience. Prof. Dr. Bahar Güntekin serves as editor and reviewer for various SCI-indexed journals. She received the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) Outstanding Young Scientist Award (GEBİP) in 2015, the Middle East Technical University Prof. Dr. Mustafa N. Parlar Education and Research Foundation Research Incentive Award in 2016, and the “Roy John” Award from the international EEG and Clinical Neuroscience Society in 2023. In 2023, she was elected as an Associate Member of TÜBA.
