Ahmet Yaşar, born in 1968 in Adapazarı, graduated from Gazi University with a degree in International Economics in 1990. He began his career in 1983 as a reporter, representative, and local newspaper publisher while still a student. In parallel with his publishing activities, he entered the insurance sector in 1989 with Çağ Sigorta Agency. He later worked at Merkez Sigorta in 1992, Universal Sigorta in 1994, and EGS Sigorta A.Ş. in 2000 as Regional Manager for Ankara and Adana. From 2003 to 2013, he served as Assistant General Manager at HDI Sigorta, and between 2013 and 2015, he was the founding General Manager of Sigortayeri Sigorta ve Reasürans Brokerliği A.Ş. Since 2015, he has been part of the Maher Holding family, playing a key role in the establishment of Quick Sigorta. Between 2018 and 2021, he served as General Manager and Board Member of Quick Sigorta and Corpus Sigorta within Maher Holding. He currently serves as the President of Maher Holding Insurance Group and as a Board Member in the Group’s companies. In addition, Ahmet Yaşar is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Insurance Association of Türkiye and Chairman of the Non-Life Insurance Committee, as well as Vice Chairman of the Board of the Insurance Arbitration Committee. He is also actively engaged in civil society and professional solidarity activities through organizations such as the TÜSİAD Insurance Group, the Association of Insurance Practitioners, and GESİD Ankara, contributing to the transformation and growth of the insurance sector. Beyond his professional career, his hobbies include collecting ephemera and materials, building a library/museum dedicated to insurance and its practices, and preserving permanent publications related to the field.
